This week moved the foundation process dramatically forward. The day after the footings were poured, the form boards came off and it is now possible to really see the future space of the house.
The next task was setting up the form boards for the patios and stem walls. The North patio was first, it having the larger stem wall. Same process as the footings - trench dug, form boards placed and rebar dropped in.With that in place, they moved on to the south side, where the entryway will be. Trench and forms there too with rebar.
All the while, the fill for the slab is being laid down. It's multi-layered...there's a fabric that goes down, then sand, then rock and it's all compacted. The plumber still has to lay down pipes and then they put a final layer over and it's ready for pouring.
SO great to have skillful people, good people doing good work. Monday the plumber will come and lay down the pipes, we'll have an inspection on the rebar in the patios and they'll pour concrete on Tuesday for the patios. The slab will get finished and be poured as soon as it can be...wohoo!!
Oh, and on timing, we have confirmed we will be sending for the shell to arrive the week of November 27. That's when, as they say, shit gets really real.
Does not suck to gaze out at that scene....
