Septic and Solar Reign

 BIG week of activity....a story in three parts:  Septic, Solar, and Trim/Carpentry

Septic system - seriously!

Father and son, await the delivery of the tanks...so patiently.  Actually, we joked about how this is them, stressed.  Trust me, you'd never know it.

The tanks came on a truck that has a boom crane on it...each tank is 1000 gallons...like I'd ever fill that up! 😂

As usual, impressive equipment and skillful people...

They dropped in perfectly, level and at elevation!

Next, they set about to make the connections needed between the house waste water pipe to the tanks to each other and out to where the leach field will be.  The green spouts on the tanks will be cut down once the earth is graded around and over them, FYI!

 

An inspector came out and declared the necessity of doing a test of the tanks that involves filling them both to capacity, and watching for any drop in water levels.  Given that required 2,000 gallons of water, it had to be trucked in!

You also have to make sure the tanks won't float with water around them!   Everything is set for the inspector to validate next week.   Septic system status ✅  To be continued...

On the Solar front...miracle of miracles, Pure Power Solutions who is the local purveyor of solar - I know the owner and some peeps who've worked with them, hence the choice of them as vendor - they had an opening in their calendar for this week and hopped on it to get the solar installed.  That happened on Thursday and will be completed after the holiday weekend on Tuesday.

The team that showed up included the first, and only, female on this job since its inception!  Danielle and Justin were a cool crew to watch work - methodical, lots of care taken, and a clear indication of safety as a priority - twas awesome to observe.

We made yet another improvement in the solar plan...their field work suggested it was possible to put all 5 panels on the three sections of the roof you see in the pic above.  The plan was for a couple to go on the roof extension to the left, which would have been mounted at an angle vs flush on the roofline.  Now, all 5 panels will be flush mounted, love the change!

 If you've been tracking in any detail, there are a couple of things you might notice in the last image above.  Not only is the solar infrastructure there, but the rakes have had siding put on them, no longer the yellow bits that have stood out up until now.  And, the contractor's team is DONE with their work, so all of the equipment and surplus materials have been removed from the house, and the site!  

All that's left is countertops, HVAC final compressor install, hot water heater and fixtures and the electrical fixtures...all on deck to happen in the next couple of weeks...still on track to be in there by June 30! 😅
