Not singin' in the rain, not doing a rain dance....just, dancing.
The weather is a bit in charge still, and she is only sort of predictable. This week she precluded more advancement on the exterior work but the interior work really took off.
Still trying to get the porch overhangs done, so the metal roofing can be installed. There was another part glitch this week...there is some hardware, technical term "buckets", that are used to hold/affix the beams across the patio overhangs. The brackets are fabricated with left or right facing orientations. For some reason we got three rights and one left, and needed two of each.
This solutioning team got on it, first exploring with the local welding shop if they could reorient one of the rights to a left. Meanwhile I reached out to Deltec to see if they had a replacement part they could expedite our way. All initial inquiries suggested we wouldn't get anything for over a week. Deltec was awesomely responsive, during this mostly holiday week for folks...it just sucked to imagine another week waiting on this part. Then, yet again, grace came our way and yesterday afternoon we got a text from the local welding shop, they had done the work and the part was ready to be picked up! I immediately went and picked it up and we're back in business. Now if the rain would just pause for a hot minute to get 'er done!
The interior work...so cool. Here's a dramatic/panoramic shot of the framing:
Can't even describe what it's like for the drawings to go 3D like this...to stand in a space, to begin to feel its dimensions. Kinda cool too to get to see the bones...when else would you get this glimpse of the inner workings of a place?
The roofers - they're another breed. They work rain or shine...they started the metal roof install, and they put the fascia up. Again, so relieved I like the color of the metal roofing and it's not something I'll cringe over forever!! Can't wait to see the final pattern but it's a cool preview of coming attractions right now:
The long slow pull forward continues...and so does the rain. We're getting a deluge today, more next week...
It's exactly a year to the day that we submitted the application for the building permit. What a wild year of waiting, nudging, patience, strategery, and overall glorious collaboration.
