So close.....

Inching closer...after the PRMD decision, I went down to talk with a Permit Tech to understand what remains or if there's anything in the way of getting to permit issuance.  When she looked at my application, she extolled "This is an ADU?  The new laws say this should have been expedited from the beginning - we're supposed to be creating more housing!" and with that she looked at the status of things and wrote to the head of the Building Department and the Ombudsman prompting attention and response.  Another bit 'o support for which I'm grateful.  She also said "You should have this permit within a week!"  Still practicing patience.

In the meantime, we continue to do what can be done until we get permission to do everything else.   Had a meeting on the site with all the trades implicated in site prep and foundation.  The first visual indicator there'll be work on the land (beyond it being prepped, of course) is this:

The men who are going to prepare this site and ensure the house is securely on the land are a great team.  I feel fortunate to have such experienced, competent people of character helping my home to become.  I had these made for every person who works on the house and gave them out to this core team at the meeting:

That meeting was super productive, we got a solution for the grading and determined concrete patio is the best way to go.  Just need a small additional retaining wall to support everything and we're good to go.  Grateful for all of the problem solving collaboration that went on between everyone!

Next, I strapped on a tank to spray the young Broom coming back up post-mastication.  Lots of things to do to maintain this raw land!!!  Yes, this is my life:

I check the PRMD website every day, making sure we're on whatever the comments or issues raised are as quickly as we can be.   In the meantime, some fun things....

Buzz and Jean got a Club Car!  They're going to use it to go easily back and forth between our houses and it even will make it easier to do a mail run at a whim!  A new toy definitely brings out the kid in all of us:

And when he took me for a spin down the driveway, he pointed to one of his uniquely trained Zinfandel vines that is no longer producing.  It's so sculptural..and he said "that's your new hot tub towel rack!"  So yes, he's going to drill a hole in the base, mount it on a pole, et voilĂ !  Cuz that's how we roll....so cool.

Stay tuned!
